Who's Our Choice ?
Kevin Arnold sits and ponders who we will take in tomorrow's draft. I have NO clue what is gonna happen. You know Bush is the #1 pick. After that, it's anyone's guess. The Saints can trade the pick OR draft either Mario Williams or D'Brickshaw Fergueson. Then, the Titans will take either Vince Young or Matt Leinart. Who knows. That leaves the Jets with a choice of either Super Mario or D'Brickshaw depending on who was drafted before them OR Young or Leinart but suppossedly the Jets do NOT want Young. Then, there are also rumors that we could go with AJ Hawk to pair up with Vilma on Defense or draft the Tight End, Vernon Davis to help the offense. Depending on if the Jets do not take a QB, there are rumors that they could package their #29 and #35 to trade up to around the #13 to draft Jay Cutler. So many things can happen that is could be a crazy afternoon and it will get crazier once the Devils/Rangers and Nets/Pacers begin both at 3:00. At least Mets/Braves isn't until night time. What a Super Saturday it will be (knock on wood) !!!

Mel Kiper Rips The Jets For Their Pick In His Mock Draft
From The Sports Pickle
NFL draft analyst Mel Kiper, Jr., criticized the New York Jets today for their pick in his most recent mock draft.
“I just don’t understand why they would take D’Brickashaw Ferguson, an offensive tackle, with the fourth pick in my mock draft when they have far greater needs than help on the offensive line,” said Kiper. “Ferguson will be a solid pro, but this mock draft mistake by the Jets is just another in a long line of draft errors made by the organization. As sad as it is, I can’t say I’m surprised I made them make a bad pick in my mock draft.”
Kiper listed quarterback, defensive line and linebacker as bigger areas of need for the Jets than offensive tackle, and felt they would be better served by picking Matt Leinart, Vince Young, Mario Williams, Haloti Ngata or A.J. Hawk. But when the Jets came up fourth in his mock draft, Kiper slotted them to pick Ferguson.
“As I was writing down Ferguson’s name in their slot at number four, I couldn’t believe they were picking him,” said Kiper. “And then when I typed it up and posted it on my website it really sunk in that they had screwed up again. This has gone on long enough in New York. They need to seriously consider getting some new blood in the front office, or I’m going to be tempted to have them make bad picks in mock drafts again next year and the year after that and the year after that.”
Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum said he is not fazed by Kiper’s criticism.
“He often comes down on our picks,” said Tannenbaum. “So this is nothing new. And while I and everyone else in my position across the NFL thinks he is insane, this is probably the first definitive proof of that. Now he’s critiquing picks in mock drafts – things that are wastes of time in of themselves anyway? The guy needs help.”
Kiper said he will release one more mock draft before Saturday’s first round gets underway, but he fears the Jets will still make a good pick.
“I’ve been hearing rumors in my head that they will pick the punter from McNeese State in my next mock draft,” he said. “For their sake and the sake of their fans I hope I don’t make them do it.”

Cedric Houstin In Car Crash
The Associated Press reports New York Jets RB Cedric Houston was injured in a one-car accident Friday evening, April 21. He was treated for injuries that were not considered life threatening and released. Houston was a passenger in a car that went up an embankment on a rural stretch of Interstate 40, about 50 miles west of Knoxville, Tennessee, and hit a tree stump. Charges were not immediately filed against the driver. At least the beautiful car above was NOT damaged!

Ex-Jets On New Net
While SportsNet NY has spoken with both Vinny Testaverde and Wayne Chrebet, it has signed former Jet quarterback Ray Lucas to be an NFL analyst, NYP TV Sports has learned.
Lucas, who last played in 2002 for Miami, has shown potential as an analyst during several TV appearances, including on ESPN and CSTV. Lucas will start on SNY's draft-day coverage a week from tomorrow.
While Testaverde and Chrebet definitely are popular among Jet fans, it would be surprising if either would be very good on the air.
Jet radio studio analyst Greg Buttle also will be part of SNY's coverage.

Jets Need A Superhero
We are a week an a half away before learning who the Jets draft with the #4 overall pick and it best be a Superhero to help in turning around this franchise. So, we all know that Reggie Bush goes first to the Texans. Saying the Saints don't trade the #2, they surely take Mario Williams. That leaves the Titans with Matt Leinart or Vince Young. That leaves the Jets with a huge decision. Do you take either Leinart or Young, whoever falls to your lap? Do you say screw it and draft Jay Cutler? Or do you take D'Brickshaw Fergueson at OL who some say is not going to be Orlando Pace? I'm not a fan of an OL so high in the draft. It is an important position but you can get OLs in the middle rounds to step in. Do NOT draft an offensive lineman with the #4 pick. Or, the Jets can trade down, accumulate a pick or two and maybe still get a QB? I don't know what is gonna happen but all I do know is that the Jets can NOT afford to screw up this draft !

Victor Green Signs On To Retire
The New York Jets today announced the signing of safety Victor Green, with his intent to retire as a Jet. The announcement was made by Jets’ General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.“Victor was an outstanding contributor to this organization,” said Tannenbaum.
“Victor never missed a game in a Jets’ uniform and could always be counted on to practice hard and prepare each week. He quickly earned a starting position in the league following his signing as an undrafted rookie free agent. Victor showed a tremendous instinct for being around the football and displayed a tenacity and fearlessness when playing the game. Victor should walk away from the NFL with his head held high. It is an honor for us to have him retire as a member of the New York Jets.”
“I am grateful to the Jets’ organization for giving me a chance 13 years ago as a rookie free agent, and now I am proud to retire as a Jet," Green said. "I enjoyed my time in New York because of my teammates, coaches and most of all, the Jets’ fans. I appreciated their support on Sundays, especially hearing the J-E-T-S chant. They know I gave all I had each week. I am also looking forward to continuing my relationship with the Jets in some capacity."
Green, a native of Americus, GA, entered the NFL as a rookie free agent signee of the Jets in 1993 out of the University of Akron. Green went on to make the team as a rookie and just a year-and-a-half later, moved into the starting lineup as the team’s strong safety in 1994. He played for the Jets through the 2001 season, accumulating 964 tackles, which currently stands as the fifth-most tackles in team history and the most stops ever by a Jets’ defensive back. Always a popular player with the fans, Green was voted as a member of the Jets’ Four Decade Team in 2003.
Green also owns the Jets’ all-time single season tackle mark, a record he established in 1996 when he recorded 207 stops (from Jets’ coaches’ film review). His 24 career interceptions in a Jets’ uniform during regular season play are tied for the third-most in team annals, while he retires second on the franchise’s all-time interception return yardage list with 529 yards, only 52 shy of Darrol Ray’s mark of 581 yards.
Green went on to play for the New England Patriots in 2002 and the New Orleans Saints in 2003. He finished his career with 1,000 tackles, 725 of which were solo, 25 interceptions for 643 yards and three touchdowns. He also recovered 16 career fumbles and forced 12 of them from his position in the secondary.
