Optimistic For 09?
This back page pissed me off. Why are there ANY reasons to be optimistic for 2009? We have a 40 year old QB. A backup QB that if he were the QB of the future, he'd already be the starter. We don't have a head coach and probably don't have any coordinators right now. We have an underacheiving OL. A DL that can't rush the passer and a 3-4 system that didn't work and a new coach to probably install their own system. We don't have a punter. We have pissed off fans in the final year of a stadium before the PSLs take effect. We don't have a tall speedy receiver. We play in the same city as the Giants who will probably be back in the Super Bowl again and we are going on 40+ years without even an appearance there. So, optimistic for 2009? You gotta be fucking kidding me !
Next Coach?
We need to pick a coach with Experience! Our last three coaches (Groh, Edwards, Mangini) were all coordinators and didn't get the job done. I'm sure Spagnoli will be a great coach in this league but I don't want to take that risk again. I want someone that has been to the Super Bowl. Look what Parcells did for us for the three years he coached. We were contenders. Let's bring in Shanahan or someone else that has gotten his team to the Super Bowl so maybe he could repeat that magic !
