Finally Gone

Finally the Jets cut the receiver who can't catch and the cornerback who cant cover!

The New York Jets have announced the release of CB Andre Dyson and WR Justin McCareins. They also waived OG Adrien Clarke.

Dyson, signed by the Jets as a free agent from Seattle in 2006, had four interceptions in his first season with the Jets, but just one in nine games last season as a backup. He started every game at left cornerback until he was injured in Week 15 of the 2006 season, and was then replaced by rookie Darrelle Revis last season.

McCareins, acquired in 2004 in a trade with Tennessee, never developed into the impact receiver the Jets hoped he'd become. In four seasons in New York, he had 141 catches for 2,062 and seven touchdowns. He saw limited action last season, catching just 19 passes for 232 yards and will most be remembered for his crucial dropped passes.

Clarke struggled as the replacement for Pete Kendall, starting 14 games at left guard for the Jets last season.

More Misery For Jets Fans

I was born in 1970. I just missed the Jets victory in Super Bowl III. Besides a 2 championship game appearances, being a Jets fan has been pretty miserable.

That misery hit a new level yesterday with the Giants upsetting the Patriots to capture Super Bowl 42. The Patriots were undefeated and 1 game away from a perfect 19-0. Deep down, I wasn't that nervous as I thought the Patriots were going to murder the Giants with Eli Manning throwing 4 interceptions. In just 6 weeks, Eli went from a bust to a Super Bowl MVP. It makes me want to puke.

I was prepared in 1986 for the Giants to win their first Super Bowl. They were clearly the best team that year. It sucked to watch but mentally, I was ready. In 1990, I knew it would be close and that missed Norwood Field Goal still burns when I see it. Still, going into the game, it was 50/50. When the Giants made the Super Bowl in 2000 as a fluke, I didn't think they had a chance to beat the Ravens. Luckily, I was correct and had some enjoyment out of that game. So, going into yesterday, against what many were calling the Best Team Ever, I felt pretty comfortable that the Patriots would figure out a way to win the game.

Even when the Giants took the lead yesterday, I figured Brady would just walk the team down the field and score. And, just as planned, he did exactly what I figured he'd do. However, things got worse. It was 3rd and 5 and the Pats basically had Eli sacked. Somehow, he didn't fall down and just chucked a ball down the middle of the field and was caught. What the heck was that? How did the Patriots defense not come up with the big sack? How did they not stop Eli and the Giants from scoring. They blew a chance at history. Eighteen and one means nothing as they didn't finish the game.

I sat and buried my head in my hands near tears. The frustration was building. I was angry, pissed, disappointed, sick to my stomach, nauseous, jealous, irritated, and mad beyond belief watching the clock hit 0:00 with the Giants celebrating their 3rd championship while my Jets still suck. Yesterday really hurt and it will hurt the entire off season and for years until the Jets win the Super Bowl...if ever.

The Giants winning their 3rd Superbowl should make a Jets fan, living in NY/NJ beyond livid since it's been like almost 40 years since they've even been to the freggin bowl. I was rooting as hard for the Patriots as I do for the Jets and in typical Jets fashion, I was heartbroken in the end. I don't understand Jets fans rooting for the Giants if you lived in the area. If I was a Jets fan living in Iowa, there would be more hatred towards the Patriots. But, living in NY/NJ, there is a stronger hatred towards the cross town rival than the divisional rival. Plus, the Jets have done nothing in 40 years and the Giants now have 3. It makes it that much harder to swallow. But this is what happens when a Jets fan roots for something to come true; the wrong results happen. Maybe I should have rooted for the Giants so they would have lost.

This game hurts as it's the Giants. We share a stadium. We are neighbors. Most Patriots fans are 200 miles north. Jets fans have to see the back pages of the Giants holding up the Lombardi trophy and see a ticker tape parade. Well...I hope it pours on that parade tomorrow. What I don't get is that Jets fans are happy that the Giants won and Patriots lost. If you are a Mets fan, you should HATE the Yankees. So, why should this be any different hating your cross town rival?

What pisses me off as well are the Patriots are the Jets rival. Now, the Patriots and Giants are associated. Heck...people will want to see the Giants and Pats play again instead of Jets / Pats. Basically, our rivalry was stolen. And the frustrating just gets worse. Why didn't Parcells coach this team for the 4th year when he knew we were SO close. Why didn't he then walk away from the organization and let Belechick run the show? I hate Belechick but who knows where we'd be if Parcells just left Belechick in charge? Why couldn't Peyton have come out when we had the #1 pick in the draft? Why did Eli cry his way out of San Diego to force a trade to the Giants? This is all a slap in the face for Jets fans.

Yesterday could have been one of the Top 5 worst days in sports during my lifetime. The Jets are eons away from a Super Bowl. The Giants have won a Super Bowl in each of the last 3 decades. When will I wake up from this nightmare.

My Thoughts On The Super Bowl

I've been alive 37 years. I just missed by 2 years being alive for the Jets in the Super Bowl, not that I would have even remembered it at that age. Now, I'm suffering and sweating it out as the Giants make their 4th Super Bowl appearance during my life time.

I can't imagine what it would be like to witness the Jets WIN the AFC Championship game, especially on a field goal in overtime to get this team to the Super Bowl. Even more, I can't imagine it being a HOME game in New Jersey and winning. Can you imagine the walk leaving the stadium and heading back to the car? I get chills just thinking about it. I've had a Mets World Series Win. I've had three Devils Stanley Cup Championship Wins. But, my sports life is incomplete without that Jets Super Bowl Win. I can't imagine how good it would feel? For 2 weeks my team would be in the paper with the big game being hyped up. Then, imagine waking up and not moving from the TV from 8:00 am until game time. The knots in the stomach. The pacing back and fourth. The cheers. The nausea. The sweaty palms. Seriously, I don't know if I could even handle it. I'd be a mess.

Obviously, the Jets are not there yet and when they have been, it's been heart break. We were close a few times. Remember the Mud Bowl? We lost 14-0 because Don Shula didn't want Freeman McNeil to run all over their asses. So, he didn't cover the field and made it impossible to run the ball. So, it forced Richard Todd to throw the ball which he did great...to the wrong team (see AJ Duhe). Then, there was the AFC Championship in Denver. We had a 10-0 lead at half-time and then mid-way through the 3rd quarter, we had a meltdown. I think we had 6 turnovers. The game quickly became an embarrassment. The feeling inside was pure nausea. Finally, there was a game in Pittsburgh. A win there, and we'd be in the AFC Championship vs. the Patriots. But, we figured out how to blow that game by becoming too conservative and trying to kick an impossible field goal on 3rd down instead of trying to move the ball closer to make it easier on the kicker. To this day, I still don't blame Doug Brien for missing the kick. That loss was all Herm Edwards not playing the odds and not properly managing the clock. So, it was heart break again.

It's been way too long since we've made the Super Bowl. The last age group to witness a Super Bowl victory was 39/40 years old and there is no way they even remember it. So, I'm saying around 7 years old, you start having sports memories. So, for arguments sake, you have to be around 47 years old to even slightly remember the Jets' Super Bowl victory over the Colts. That was EONS ago.

In this same span, now the Giants, our hated cross-town rivals, are back in the game for their 4th time. I hate the Patriots as well as they are divisional rivalries. People don't understand how I can not root for the Giants. First of all, growing up, the biggest Jets rivals were the Dolphins. No one ever gave two craps about the Patriots. The Patriots didn't become our main rivals until midway through the 90's. Secondly, how can you root for your rivals in state? Not many people understand this as not many cities have TWO teams. When you only have 1 team in your area, your arch enemy becomes your division rival. For most avid Jets fans, hating the Giants is a must. And for those people that root for both the Giants and Jets because they are local, I have one thing to tell them - PISS OFF. You are not a true fan if you root for both teams. That's just stupid so their rooting interest isn't worth listening too.

Some people have given me the argument of Division Rivals being deeper than Geographical Rivals. But, those giving me that argument come from Giants and Yankees fans. It's different for fans of those teams. Yankees have a long glorified history purchasing 26 or so championships. So, if the Mets made the World Series vs their hated divisional enemy, the Red Sox, they'd probably root for the Mets as there is nothing more hated than the Sox. However, if the Yankees were in the World Series playing the Braves (the Mets divisional rival), I'd root for the Braves as the history is not as strong of a rival as Yankees / Red Sox. Plus, I hate the Yankees more than any other baseball team. They've won so many World Series that no one but Yankees fans would EVER root for them. Same applies to football. The Giants are the Jets geographical rivals. Giants have now made their 4th Super Bowl and have a history of championships before the Super Bowl ever began. If the Jets were to EVER make the Super Bowl against the Cowboys, the same applies for Giants fans. The history vs the Cowboys is so much stronger and has so much more hatred than a Jets / Patriots rivalry which, in terms of NFL History, is pretty new. So, Giants fans would root for the Jets to beat the Cowboys and would bother them less than the Cowboys winning another Super Bowl. This is why the Patriots better destroy the Giants.

Come on. The Giants aren't a great team. Hell...they've had a hell of a year winning all of these road games. And it makes it worse that they are in the Super Bowl after what Strahan pulled in training camp to now be rewarded with a Super Bowl appearance. Eli is a weak QB. He's made it through the play-offs playing all of the other WEAK NFC opponents as you have to play someone...right? The Bucs didn't even have a better record than the Giants but won their division to have home field advantage. I don't think the Bucs even deserved to be in the play-offs. Then, there was the Cowboys who have been NFC choke artists for 7 years. Tony Romo takes a Mexican vacation with his girlfriend a few days before the biggest game of his life and played like he was still on vacation. Now, the Giants take on the Packers who played above their heads all year. And, Farve makes his typical HUGE interception with the game on the line. Crap...all of a sudden, the Giants are in the Super Bowl.

Bring on the Patriots. Yes, the Giants played the Patriots closer than any other team in the NFL but still lost. The game was meaningless. Yeah, it was nice for the Patriots to try and get to 16-0 but again, the game was meaningless. I'm not convinced they played 100% but instead, played to get by. This team is now focused on making history, trying to become the league's first 19-0 perfect season. And I don't see those Big Blue fags getting in their way. I actually think this game could be like the Super Bowls growing up - Ugly and Over by half-time.

Yes, it definitely sucks that the Giants are in the Super Bowl and I'm quite jealous since I've never been in that position, but when the Jets ever do get there (knock on wood), I hope they don't run into a team of destiny.

PTJD - Post Traumatic Jets Disorder

What is Post Traumatic Jets Disorder?

Posttraumatic Jets Disorder, or PTJD, is a psychiatric disorder that can occur following the experience or extended periods of rooting for the NY Jets. Witnessing events such as Late hits on Bernie Kosar, The Mud Bowl, Blair Thomas, Leon Johnson Halfback Pass, The Fake Spike, Doug Brien and losses against Cleveland and Buffalo in 2006. Most survivors of this kind of trauma return to normal given a little time. However, some people will have stress reactions that do not go away on their own, or may even get worse over time.

These individuals may develop PTJD. People who suffer from PTJD often relive the experience through nightmares and flashbacks, have difficulty sleeping, and feel detached or estranged, and these symptoms can be severe enough and last long enough to significantly impair the person's daily life.

PTJD is marked by clear biological changes as well as psychological symptoms. PTJD is complicated by the fact that it frequently occurs in conjunction with related disorders such as depression, substance abuse, problems of memory and cognition, and other problems of physical and mental health. The disorder is also associated with impairment of the person's ability to function in social or family life, including occupational instability, marital problems and divorces, family discord, and difficulties in parenting and wearing of Jet Green in public places.

Understanding PTJD

PTJD is not a new disorder. There are written accounts of similar symptoms that go back to the early 1960's, and there is clear documentation in the historical medical literature starting with the 1970, when a PTJD-like disorder was known as "Da Namath's Knee Syndrome."

Careful research and documentation of PTJD began in earnest after the Super Bowl III. The National NY Jets Fan's Readjustment Study estimated in 1988 that the prevalence of PTJD in that group was 15.2% at that time and that 30% had experienced the disorder at some point since the early 1970's.

PTJD is not only a problem for veteran Jets Fans, however. Although there are unique cultural- and gender-based aspects of the disorder, it occurs in men and women, adults and children, Western and non-Western cultural groups, and all socioeconomic strata. A national study of American civilians conducted in 1995 estimated that the lifetime prevalence of PTJD was 99% in men and 1% in women. A revision of this study done in 2005, reports that PTJD occurs in about 53% of all New Yorkers.

How does PTJD develop?

Most people who are exposed to a traumatic, stressful event experience some of the symptoms of PTJD in the days and weeks following exposure. Available data suggest that about 99% of men and 1% of women go on to develop PTJD, and roughly 30% of these individuals develop a chronic form that persists throughout their lifetimes.

An estimated 88.8 percent of Jets Fans will experience PTJD at some point in their lives. About 97.6 percent of NY adult Jets Fans aged 18 to 54 (5.2 million people) have PTJD during the course of a given year. This represents a small portion of those who have experienced at least one traumatic event.

What are some symptoms of PTJD?

Headaches, gastrointestinal complaints, immune system problems, dizziness, chest pain, and discomfort in other parts of the body are common in people with PTJD. Often, medical doctors treat the symptoms without being aware that they stem from PTJD.

How is PTJD treated?

PTJD is treated by a variety of forms of psychotherapy (talk therapy) and drug therapy. There is no definitive treatment, but some treatments appear to be quite promising, especially cognitive-behavioral therapy, group therapy, and exposure therapy. Exposure therapy involves having the patient repeatedly relive the frightening experience under controlled conditions to help him or her work through the trauma such as replays of the Kotite Years. Studies have also shown that medications help ease associated symptoms of depression and anxiety and help with sleep. The most widely used drug treatments for PTJD are the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, such as Prozac and Zoloft.

Is there a cure?

There is only one cure for PTJD and that is a Super Bowl win. Is Mangini the answer? Can he save present and future sufferers from PTJD? Only time will tell.

Herm & Chad Together Again ???

Pictures taken BEFORE yesterday's Jets / Chiefs game:

Wonder what they were talking about !

Year Finally Over !

Well, for the 2nd time in 3 years, we had a chance to secure a TOP 3 pick with a loss. And guess what? We win the last game of the season again were we will now get either the 6th pick. What a dumb time to win a game...again !

Herm Edwards was back in the meadowlands along side his assistant - Dick Curl. I cracked up outloud when Ian Eagle said his name. If my last name was Curl and my first name was "Dick", I'd have people call me "Rich" or "Richard". Okay...I just had to get that out of the way since there isn't much to talk about from yesterday's snooze fest. And what made it worse, was that we had to go into overtime to determine a winner. And the poor fans that were there couldn't even drink a beer as sales were banned. I'm just glad I sold my tickets for this game back in August.

We have a BIG question mark going into the off season - the QB position. Will Chad Pennington return? Will we draft a QB? Will Kellen Clemens be our starter? He didn't show much this season going 3-5 with a 60.9 passer rating (the lowest by a Jets starter since 1992 - Browing Nagle). Yesterday, it was just ugly (13 of 25 for 115 yards and 1 TD). It's not all is fault. He has a limited running game. An Offensive line that can't protect him giving him not much time to throw or throw while running for his life. He was missing Laverneaus Coles and then, besides Cotchery, there was many other people to throw to that can consistently catch the ball. I, personally, would take the risk next year and go with Clemens and improve the offensive line and the wide receivers. This will help all facets of the offense and then, let's see if the offense can move. What is great is that we are FINALLY out of cap hell. We have over $27 million to spend this year so it could be a FUN off-season.

Other question marks besides Pennington are Vilma and Coles. Will they be back or will they be traded? I think they need Coles as Cotchery is not a #1 receiver and Coles is one of the team leaders. I love Vilma but with the system the Jets play, this guy is being held back. David Harris has played great so Vilma can be used as trade bait to pick up some additional draft picks.

The end of the game was interesting. After kicking the game winning field goal, we had a penalty and then had to kick a 43 yarder which I thought Nugent would miss. And it figures, that he knocked it through lowering our draft pick by 3 positions.

It was nice to see Leon Washington, our team MVP, throw a 38 yard completion to Wallace Wright and Thomas Jones had some nice runs.

Well...it was a bad year from Day #1 but now the off-season has begun and it is sure to be interesting !

NOTES:
1. The Jets ended with 12 losses, tied for the third-most in team history.

2. The Jets allowed three sacks, finishing with 53, their highest total since 1989.

Where's The Offense ???

What has our offense become? A combination of Trick Plays with Brad Smith and no running game resulting in basically ZERO offense !

'08 Opponents Decided

The Jets future schedule is as follows:

2008
Home: New England, Miami, Buffalo, Denver, Kansas City, Arizona, St. Louis, Cincinnati
Away: New England, Miami, Buffalo, Oakland, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Tennessee

2009
Home: New England, Miami, Buffalo, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Atlanta, Carolina, AFC North
Away: New England, Miami, Buffalo, Houston, Indianapolis, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, AFC West

In August of 2001, the NFL announced its scheduling rotation for eight seasons (2002-2009). The schedules will take each team through a cycle of games — home and away — against every other team in the league. Over eight seasons, every team will play every other team at least twice — once home and once away.

Under the formula, the New York Jets will play 16 games as follows:

- Home and away against its three division opponents – Buffalo, Miami & New England - (6 games).

- The four teams from another division within the AFC on a rotating three-year cycle (4 games).

- The four teams from another division in the other conference on a rotating four-year cycle (4 games).

- Two intraconference games based on the prior year’s standings. These games will match a first-place team against the first-place teams in the two same-conference divisions the team is not scheduled to play that season. The second-place, third-place and fourth-place teams in a conference will be matched in the same way each year.

Therefore the matchups for 14 of the 16 regular-season games for the Jets in 2009 are fixed and known. Following the 2009 season, a decision will be made whether to continue with the same rotation or modify it.

NY Jets Awards Announced

From www.newyorkjets.com :

The New York Jets announced their 2007 team awards today. Running back/returner Leon Washington was voted as the team’s Most Valuable Player, quarterback Chad Pennington was named the recipient of the Dennis Byrd Award for most inspirational player, wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery earned the Marty Lyons Award for community service, and Brad Smith was given the Kyle Clifton Good Guy Award. As previously announced, Laveranues Coles was honored with the Ed Block Courage Award.

Washington was named the team’s MVP as voted by his teammates. Washington has a Jets-record three kickoff-return touchdowns this season: a 98-yard return vs. Miami (9/23), a 98-yarder at the Giants (10/7) and an 86-yarder on the opening kickoff vs. Washington (11/4). His 28.2-yard kickoff return average is second in the NFL and he has five returns of 49 or more yards. The second-year man from Florida State also pulled off a 33-yard punt return in overtime to set up Mike Nugent’s game-winning 38-yard field goal vs. Pittsburgh (11/18).

Washington has scored three rushing touchdowns, including two at Miami (12/2). He took a direct snap 18 yards in the first quarter and capped the scoring with a 12-yard run late in the fourth. He led the Jets with 57 yards rushing on four carries at New England (12/16), including a 49-yard run, the longest by a Jet in two years (Curtis Martin, 49, at Buffalo, 10/16/05). On the season, he has accumulated 281 yards rushing (59 carries, 4.8-yard average), 198 yards receiving (31 receptions, 6.8), 1,186 yards on kickoff returns and 172 yards on punt returns (10.1).

For the second straight season, Pennington won the Dennis Byrd Award as voted by his teammates. The eight-year veteran has started seven games this season, completing 153 of 228 passes for 1,503 yards, nine touchdowns and seven interceptions. He injured his ankle in the opener vs. New England but rebounded after only one week on the sidelines to lead the Jets to a victory over Miami. Pennington is the most accurate passer in NFL history for players with more than 1,500 attempts, having completed 65.3 percent of his passes in his career. He also missed time with a wrist injury in 2003 and separate shoulder injuries in 2004 and 2005.

Cotchery received the Marty Lyons Award for his dedicated off-the-field support to causes and programs in the community. Cotchery and his wife, Mercedes, created the Cotchery Foundation in January as a not-for-profit organization established to benefit underprivileged youth. The foundation’s mission is to inspire children to conceive and achieve goals by providing programs and services designed to enhance their futures. The Cotchery Foundation hopes to plant seeds that bridge the gap between what you have and what you hope for, ultimately demonstrating that the two can be one and the same. This year, for each Jets home game Cotchery gave 10 tickets through the foundation to residents from MercyFirst/St. Mary’s Children and Family Foundation. MercyFirst/St. Mary’s Children and Family Foundation is a foster home for troubled youth located on Long Island.

Jerricho has also participated in many Jets community events and is scheduled to attend more. In May, he was present at the Jets' "Taste of the NFL" event to benefit Shop-Rite Partners in Caring. At the event, he auctioned off one-on-one experiences with himself to help raise additional funds for charity. On Nov. 12, he supported Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum at the Hofstra Saltzman Community Services Center Benefit Dinner honoring Tannenbaum.

Smith received the Kyle Clifton Good Guy Award, which is voted on by members of the Jets organization. The award, now in its 12th season, recognizes exceptionally consistent willingness, cooperation and professionalism in the everyday dealings with the various departments within the organization.

Coles, who has 55 catches for 646 yards and six touchdowns this season despite missing multiple games due to injuries, was previously awarded the Ed Block Courage Award, named in honor of the longtime head athletic trainer of the Baltimore Colts who was a pioneer in his profession and a respected humanitarian. The award is given annually to one player from each NFL team. Award recipients embody everything that is positive about professional athletes as they serve as inspirations in their locker rooms and constructive role models in their communities.

Coles, along with each team’s award recipient, will travel to Baltimore in March to receive his trophy at a gala and spend time at the local Courage House at St. Vincent's Center. This visit and the time spent with the hospitalized children allows each recipient to fully comprehend the true meaning of the award.

Big Off Season Jets Trade ?

JetNation.com has learned that the Jets have had conversations with the Kansas City Chiefs about a blockbuster trade. The Jets would send both Chad Pennington and Laveranues Coles to Kansas City in exchange for the Chiefs 1st round pick. The Jets would also receive a 4th rounder and a possible 2nd day pick in the 2009 draft. The 2009 pick would be tied in some way to performance. We are told that a deal is essentially in place and it will be announced in the off-season.

The Jets would like to avoid a situation next year where both Chad and Coles are unhappy in camp. The staff likes what they see from Kellen Clemens this year and they are ready to proceed in that direction. The Chiefs are under the 2008 cap and since Chad and Laveranues both have manageable cap numbers, this deal is workable. Herman Edwards is under tremendous pressure in Kansas City to improve an offense that has been very unproductive under his watch.

Close...But No Cigar !

The stages was set. A nor easter in town. And so were the Jets. Yes. It was SpyGate Bowl. It was a rematch of arch Enemies going in two different directions but this time, the Jets came to play. Unfortunately, the results were still the same as the Jets suffered their 11th loss of the season (20 to 10) while New England now stands at a perfect 14-0. Yes...it's enough to make me puke green knowing that they are undefeated and we had our chances to beat them yesterday and ruin their perfect season.

The game started out nice. We played some nice defense and forced a punt so how can you complain. But, then Kellen Clemens made a terrible mistake as he was under pressure and threw it to the Pats for a touchdown to put us in an early hole. I was pissed on that play as the ball was released and Clemens was pounded into the ground by a 300+ lb Richard Semour. Hey zebras...where's the roughing penalty??? Still...Kellen made a really bad throw and then was out of the game with injured ribs. So, the jury is still out if he is going to be our starting QB next year.

What didn't help is that Laveraneus only played in one play in the entire game as he suffered what they call a "freak accident" to his ankle at the team hotel. Great...our best receiver was out.

Now, once Kellen was out of the game, I hated was Mangini was doing giving Brad Smith so many plays in a row behind center. Brad Smith is a trick play guy and when he was in for multiple plays, you saw the things that can happen. First there was a toss to the halfback Washington that was fumbled. Then, there was a play that we needed 2 yards for a first down and Smith throws a terrible pass to a wide open Chris Baker. Hey Eric Mangini...put Pennington in to make those short throws and run the offense and use Smith to change things up. I didn't understand what Mangini was doing. Personally, they should have attempted the field goal but if you are going to go for it, let Chad make the throw instead of Smith.

Chad was a bit rusty but played good despite the weather conditions, not playing since end October, not getting the reps during the week's practice, and in horrific weather conditions. Chad finished 25 for 38 for 186 yards. One of the big problems all game was 3rd down conversions. Some of the play calling on 3rd down made me scratch my scalp and I don't have dandruff. We were 3 for 14 on third down for the game. That's pathetic. Worse is the way we played in the red zone. We were there 4 times and wound up with only 3 points. The Chris Baker fumble while in the red zone didn't help much either.

Scoring for both teams didn't come easy. Kellen gave them a TD in the start of the game with an interception and we gave them another touchdown as they blocked a punt. So, that was 14 points for them all wrapped up for Christmas. They gave us 7 points from a blocked punt. So, the net difference is 7 points in their favor which would have made the game even closer than it was. But, we didn't deserve to win as there were too many mistakes. And we need a receiver to come in that can catch. Justin McCareins continued his dropping ways with two bad drops with the 2nd one being in the endzone that he bobbled that would have given us 7 points to cut the deficit to 3 with time remaining to get the ball back. And after not scoring a touchdown, we wind up missing a field goal. OUCH.

As for the defense, they played great. If you take away the 14 gift points, the defense held the high scoring Patriots to just 6 points. How can you complain when we held Brady, having a year for the ages to 14 for 27, 140 yards, and an interception. Plus, it was the first time all season that Brady didn't throw a touchdown pass. And, it was the first time in 17 games that the Patriots didn't score at least 24 points. So, you gotta take your hats off to the defense as this unit is improving and I look for them to be even better next year.

Well...there are only 2 more games left in this miserable season before we start looking forward to an interesting off season and the draft. I'll go more into this once the season is officially complete. As for the Patriots, I'm not rooting for them to go to the Super Bowl and then get upset by the Packers ! GO FAVRE !
