New Jets Not Named Tim Tebow To Get Excited About
With all the talk surrounding the arrival of Tim Tebow, it goes without saying that some of the other new rookies and acquisitions might feel a bit slighted. After all, there is still a very real chance that Tebow never even starts a game for the Jets. With that being said, here is a look at three people who should all have a solid impact on the Jets’ season in 2012.
Quinton Coples
If people were not excited about Quinton Coples before the first preseason game, they certainly are now. He wasted little time looking like a steal as the 16th pick in the NFL draft. While it may just be preseason, a defensive player picking up three tackles for losses, a sack, a forced fumble, a knocked down pass and a few other quarterback hurries in one game certainly deserves recognition. Look for him to make an impact for the Jets right from the beginning.
Stephen Hill
Fans of the Jets should be very pleased with how their team drafted in 2012, as Stephen Hill has also shown early signs as a potential impact player in year one. Hill is a huge target at 6’4", yet he has the speed to possibly already be the 2nd best receiver on the team. The Jets need dependable receivers, so Hill will get the opportunity to play, and if he is a fast learner he will be catching passes from Sanchez/Tebow in no time.
Tony Sparano
OK, so maybe this is cheating a bit by naming an offensive coordinator, but I think most Jets fans will agree that this change is very much needed after 2011. While Sparano will not actually be making any passes, catches or runs for the offense in 2012, the former coach of the Miami Dolphins knows how to handle an offense. He will focus on providing discipline and strong offensive line play for the Jets in 2012 (two of the things the Jets lacked in 2011). He has had successful seasons with teams who were not blessed with the talent the New York Jets have, so there is reason to get excited.
The Jets will continue to be one of the most talked about teams in 2012 simply because of that certain new quarterback, but if the Jets are going to make any type of playoff push, the three people above will most likely have a huge hand in that success.
Many thanks to our friends at FanDuel (the biggest site online offering one week Fantasy Football Money Leagues for this 2012 Jets preview.
