Sanchez Named Starter !

FROM ESPN:

No Jets rookie started the first game of a season since Dick Jamieson started the first game in franchise history in 1960 when the Jets were known as the New York Titans.

The last Jets rookie QB to start a game was Matt Robinson on Nov. 27, 1977 at home against Pittsburgh.

So when Sanchez starts in Week 1, he'll do something even Joe Namath didn't do. Namath made his first start as a rookie in the Jets' third game of the 1965 season.

Rookie pass attempts by Jets QBs drafted in first round:

Year Quarterback Attempts
2009 Mark Sanchez ?
2000 Chad Pennington 5
1983 Ken O'Brien 0
1976 Richard Todd 162
1965 Joe Namath 340
1962 Sandy Stephens 0

48 yarder on his first NFL Throw. Then, 3-4 for 88 yards on his TD drive. I'd say that's a positive start !

Jets, NJ Team Up On Instand Lottery Game

The Associated Press

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. - The New York Jets and the state of New Jersey teamed up Monday to create an instant lottery game that includes hundreds of cash and Jets-themed prizes.

The "Jets Football Fantasy" game is expected to be available in early September , as the NFL regular season begins , and will offer cash prizes ranging from $5 to $100,000. There will also be more than 400 first-prize winners who will get $300 Jets Shop gift cards.

One second-chance winner will receive lower-bowl season tickets for the team's new stadium for 10 years.

Other prizes include being team owner for a day, in which the winner will fly to a road game on a private jet and enjoy perks such as premium seats and a meet-and-greet with owner Woody Johnson.

Non-cash winning tickets can be submitted to the New Jersey Lottery for second-chance drawings. Former Jets receiver Wayne Chrebet was selected as an "ambassador" for the lottery partnership, and will host some second-chance winners at a Jets home game in a luxury suite.

"Calling New Jersey home and being a member of the Jets family, I think this is a natural fit for me," said Chrebet, who played for New York from 1995-2005.

Matt Higgins, the team's executive vice president of business operations, said the lottery tickets will also be available at the Meadowlands on gamedays.

The team is taking advantage of a new rule approved by NFL owners to allow teams to partner with local lotteries. Cincinnati, Dallas, Green Bay, Houston and Seattle are among the other NFL teams to offer instant lottery games.

Let The Ride Begin...

Ahhhh, fights in training camp. Sanchez is looking more comfortable. There's that first preseason game a week from Friday. Are you ready for some football?

Tuesday, August 04, 2009

Optimistic !

Well, training camp is open and we are 0-0 currently tied atop the AFC East. You surely can't complain that if asked if you could be in first place at this point in the season, you'd surely take it!
