A Jets Fans' Opening Day Diary

Sunday, September 11th
12:01 AM - Toast your glass with all Jet fans to wish us luck for the coming season. You start getting pumped. It's time to get back to business.
1:30 AM - Get home from the bar and watch last season's highlight reel one more time to feel the pain of that Steelers loss
2:00 AM - Climb into bed in your Jets T-shirt and boxers and try and fall asleep.
2:30 AM - Toss and turn. The excitement is too much. You have difficult falling asleep.
3:00 AM - Still awake. Get a glass of water, pee, and go back to bed to see if that helps.
3:30 AM - Nope...haven't fallen asleep yet. Check email and check the mesage boards on GangGreen.com
4:00 AM - Climp back into bed and give it another shot.
4:30 AM - It still is not working. Leave bed and go to the TV and watch Saturday's Generation Jets on your DVR.
5:00 AM - Climb back into bed.
5:30 AM - The sleepless night continues as it is getting lighter outside.
6:00 AM - The heck with sleep. Time to get on the couch and watch Sports Center.
6:30 AM - Watch Sports Center again even though it is a repeat...you just can't get enough of football.
7:00 AM - Time to turn on the NFL Channel to get even more football stories.
8:30 AM - It's still early but you hop in the car to get a Dunkin Donuts, a bagel, and every local NY Newspaper for the Jets Season Preview.
9:00 AM - Turn on Sports Center in the kitchen. Eat breakfast while reading your papers. The excitement is growing.
9:30 AM - Back to the couch to review the day's football picks, finish reading the paper, and watch Sports Center for the 4th time.
10:00 AM - Flip Back to the NFL Channel for a bit.
10:30 AM - More football with the Sports Reporters. Once they stop talking football, it's back to ESPN.
11:00 AM - CBS and FOX Pre-Game shows begin as well as ESPN's show. You open up picture in picture to get the best segments.
11:30 AM - Time for 24/7 with Herman Edwards and Jets Jets Jets Talk.
12:00 NOON - Doorbell Rings...Dad and Brother come over to watch the game on the 60" Hi-Def screen. Wife leaves to go shopping.
12:30 PM - Time to bring out the chips and dip and mass flipping between ESPN, FOX, CBS, CNN, MSG, ESPN NEWS, Etc...
1:00 PM - The hands begin sweating. The nerves begin. The NFL season is finally here.
1:04 PM - Jets lose the coin flip.
1:05 PM - YES...the games have begun. Time for redemption on last season's heartbreaking loss.
1:06 PM - Nugent's kick goes into the endzone for a touch back.
1:09 PM - Three and out by KC highlighed by a Vilma sack.
1:10 PM - KC Punts
1:11 PM - Justin Miller take the punt 33 yards to put us in good field position.
1:15 PM - Chad and the new non-conservative offense takes the field.
1:16 PM - First play from scrimmage, Chad in the shotgun, goes deep to coles for a 45 yard Touchdown!
1:17 PM - Nugent nails his first extra point of his career.

And the rest is history. Curtis gets his 100 yards. Coles gets his 100 yards. Chad passes for 300 yards, going 22 for 27, 3 touchdowns and no INTs.

4:00 PM - Start rooting for the Giants to lose and flipping thru channels the rest of the night as you can't get enough of the highlights of the Jets victory over the Chiefs by a score of 38 to 3.
