Back On Track !

A total of 12 touchdowns, 710 yards passing, and 91 points was the main story of yesterday's Jets game that was basically a Must Win. And, the Jets weren't even wearing their green uniforms; they were in those hideous blue and yellow ones from the days of the Titans.

It was definitely a crazy game that didn't start out well. Favre threw a terrible interception. We missed a field goal. But, Jenkins blocked their FG attempt. Things started to change and we had one hell of a 2nd quarter scoring 34 points in a single quarter, a team record. Amazing.

There were so many crazy moments that I don't even know where to begin. We had 5 takeaways in the first half. Coles had 3 touchdown receptions. We scored on eight of 12 possessions. Revis even picked one off for a TD to join in on the fun. Favre threw for a career high 6 touchdowns tying a 36 year old recod by Joe Namath.

Then there was half time. I sat there with not a sign of stress leading the game 34-0. And who would have thought that the defense would go to sleep in the 3rd quarter giving them 21 points right back to cut the deficit to just 13 points. Crap...we have a game now. What the hell happened to the defense? The pass rush stopped. The coverage stopped. It got ugly? Were the Jets gonna blow a 34-0 lead? It sure looked like it.

The 4th quarter was more balanced but still too many points given up. We did exchange points back and fourth but the moment of truth was a 4th and 1 from the Cardinals 40. The smart move was to punt as we were only up 13 points. We were going to go for it and we NEVER get that one yard we need. Favre gets the snap, it's play action and the entire defense was fooled as he heaved the ball 46 yards to Cotchery for a TD. It was a balsy call that luckily didn't backfire like the stupid on sides kick last Monday night.

Then at the end of the game to ice it after they scored again, Favre found a wide open Keller in the endzone. The decided to go for 2 points to make it a 3 TD game. It was a crazy shootout that was fun and quite stressful but a win is a win and we needed it badly.

It was the 2nd most points we've ever scored in a game.

Hopefully with the Bye week here, we can now see what is wrong with this defense.

But until then, I'm gonna enjoy this one for a bit.
