WE ARE IN !!!

They Came. We Saw. And then Kicked Their Asses ! And this is despite the 20 degree kickoff temperature and 4 degree windchills !

They Giants had their chance to close down the stadium last week. Result: They got murdered.

The Jets then had their chance to close down the stadium. Result: They murdered the opposition !

I don't know where to begin. The weather was freezing but it was a "win and you're in" game.

And the Jets came out and more than won; they sent a statement to the Bengals for a rematch next week that we are here to play.

Just think about this year. We wound up 9-7. However, there were FIVE games we blew. If we were able to close out games, we could have been 14-2 with a chance to host the AFC Championship. No one will give the Jets any respect. We beat the undefeated Colts. Yeah, some players weren't playing but we were still in the game with their starters in. We beat the Bengals and destroyed them with their starters in. Maybe we are finally in that groove and have the confidence and game plans to beat some teams. No one gave the Arizona Cardinals a chance when they were 9-7 and they wound up in the Super Bowl. I sure wouldn't want to face our defense in a one game playoff.

But last night was not just a game to make the playoffs. It was a statement and the statement read loud and clear: We have the #1 Rushing Offense in the League. We have the #1 Defense in the League. That's our game. Try and stop it ! And we did most of yesterday's damage against their starters.

Here are some tidbits from last night's game.

1.) We won 37-0 shutting out the Bengals and notching our 2nd shutout of the season.

2.) We clinched our 1st playoff (the #5 Seed) birth in 3 years with a Rookie Head Coach and a Rookie Quarterback.

3.) After losing 6 of 7 games in the middle of the season, the Jets rebounded by winning 5 of their last 6 games.

4.) We held the Bengals to just 5 first downs the entire game and have now lost 3 out of 4 games heading into our rematch next week.

5). We shut out the Bengals, their first shutout since 2001.

6.) We rushed for 258 yards and had 3 different players with 60+ yards rushing.

7.) Brad Smith had a career high 92 yards while getting his first rushing TD (a 32 yarder) of the season.

8.) If was the Jets first shutout at home since beating the Steelers 6-0 on December 14, 2003.

9.) Sanchez finished 8 for 16, 63 yards, and NO turnovers.

10.) Thomas Jones ran for 78 yards and two touchdowns in setting a Jets team record for his 14th rushing TD (also a career high). He finished the season with 1,402 yards rushing.

11.) The Jets set a record for rushing yards in a season - 2,756 yards breaking the last mark that stood since 1979.

12.) Carson Palmer finished 1 for 11, with ZERO yards passing. WOW ! Once replaced, the backup didn't complete a pass for positive yardage either.

13.) The Jets ran 24 plays while the Bengals had just three, outgaining the Bengals by 138 yards to 1 yard in the 1st quarter.

14.) By halftime, the Jets had 250 yards with 190 of them on the ground, while the Bengals had a total of 7 yards of offense.

15.) Cincinnati fell to 0-11 at Giants Stadium, including 0-8 against the Jets.

16.) Our 2nd drive of the game went for 21 plays and lasted 11:11 to give us a 10-0 lead.

17.) Revis held Ochocinco to ZERO yards and ZERO catches.

18.) The Jets Jets finished No. 1 in the NFL in total defense, passing defense, points allowed and rushing offense (172.3 yards rushing per game)

19.) Cincinnati was 1 for 11 on third down, and finished with just 72 net yards on offense.

20.) This season, the Jets allowed only 252.3 yards a game, 32.1 yards fewer than the next closest team.

21.) The Jets gave up an average of 15.5 first downs a game and a league-low 163.9 passing yards a game.

22.) The Dallas Cowboys edged out the Jets in average scoring defense by one-tenth of a point.

23.) Jets set a team record for fewest points allowed per game - 14.8 points.

24.) Jets set a team record for fewest TD passes allowed in a season - 8.

25.) Rex Ryan, joining Herman Edwards and Eric Mangini, became the third straight Jets rookie coach to get to the playoffs. Ryan was actually the fifth consecutive Jets coach in his first season to face an elimination game in the final week.

26.) Mark Sanchez will be the only starting rookie QB in the playoffs this season.

27.) Calvin Pace, who made the playoffs for the first time in his seven-year career, had his team-leading eighth sack of the season.

BRING ON THE BENGALS...AGAIN !
