The Dark Side Of The Jets

Look at the last 10 years of frustration:

1995: Leon Hess says, "Just Win Now" and hires Rich Kotite who goes 3-13 . One positive...Wayne Chrebet. But, we get the #1 Pick in the draft..

1996: We draft "Keyshawn "Throw Me The Damn Ball" Johnson. It gets worse...Kotite goes 1-15. We get the #1 Pick in the draft..

1997: Parcells trades down from the #1 pick for James Farrior. Parcells blows a playoff spot w/ a Ray Lucas trick play plus a Leon Johnson HB option .

1998: Vinny and the Jets go 12-4 and make the AFC Championship Game. Jets blow a 10 point half-time lead. Too many 2nd half turnovers to remember.

1999: High expectations die when Vinny ruptures his achilles in Game #1. QB controversy -- Rick Mirer vs. Ray Lucas.

2000: Parcells quits coaching. Belicheck becomes Head Coach. Resigns 24 hours later as H.C. of the NY Jets. Team starts 6-1 under new coach Al Groh. Teams starting 6-1 make the playoffs 92% of the time. Jets were the 8% that didn't. Al Groh quits.

2001: Herman Edwards becomes head coach. Jets back into playoffs and lose to Raiders. Patriots win Super Bowl.

2002: Jets start 1-4. Pennington takes over and gets team to playoffs. After a big win, Chad has worst game EVER.

2003: Jets are AFC favorites but Chad hurts his wrist and the team starts 1-5. No playoffs...Pats win 2nd Super Bowl.

2004: Jets start 5-0 and 6-1. They still back into the playoffs. Eric Barton makes a bonehead play. Shottenheimer makes a big mistake. Herm makes the same big mistake the following week when Doug Brien misses a kick, losing to the Steelers. Patriots win 3rd Super Bowl.

2005: Edwards rushes Pennington back too soon . He gets hurt and is out from the year. We have a 41 year old QB.

To be continued....
